Project Highlight: Automated visual inspection of airplane engine parts for KLM
To preserve essential expertise in airplane engine inspection, we are working on an automated quality control solution together with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance.
The challenge: Each engine has around 2000 unique parts that need to comply to incredibly high-quality standards. Moreover, the aerospace industry has stringent regulations and quality standards.
The AI-powered inspection solution: A rotational board moves an engine part around. Smart cameras capture images of all sides of the part using different lighting techniques. These high-quality images are then stored and processed. The custom AI model will use these to detect damages on a micron level and create an inspection report. This solution is currently in its experimentation and prototyping phase. Check out a few of the initial results:
